CDO gets Egged

by: Casey Emata

The young people had work to do, morning ‘til sundown: exchange smiles and give away eggs.

Thursday, April 8—expectant, energized, and enthusiastic hands and feet gave away colored plastic eggs as invitations to the City of Golden Friendship to join in the first ever “Easter Friday” experience on April 9, 7 pm at Victory Place (3rd Floor Bo’s Velez). The group of students were members of Every Nation Campus Ministries.

The first eggs, accompanied with shy smiles, seemed the hardest to give, but excitement sent them walking around the campuses, group-hopping to student leaders, friends, familiar faces and acquaintances. Most of them even asked for more eggs. The rides to malls, radio stations, food outlets and other establishments proved to be ecstatic and rewarding as generous hearts responded to the cause.

The eggs and donations would serve as passes to the event. This would benefit the DSWD Home for Girls—girls below 18 years old who were exploited and oppressed.

Indeed, “greater things are still to be done in this city,” the song goes. Now that’s a reason to take part and be egg-cited!
