The city of Cagayan de Oro will now have its very own Starbucks Coffee Shop, one of the famous coffeehouse chains in the world. We’ve already posted a couple of months ago that the company which manages Starbucks coffee shops in the Philippines has already started looking for potential employees who will be working in their soon-to-open Starbucks coffee shop here in CDO. The world famous coffeehouse chain, originally based in Seattle, Washington U.S.A is already planning to add more branches in the growing commercial areas in the Visayas and Mindanao. Now that the Rustan Coffee Corporation, the company who runs a lot of Starbucks branches in the Philippines, has already started the development of their first Mindanao coffee shop branch, we the Kagay-anon’s are expecting that by the end of this year we will already have our very first Starbucks serving freshly brewed coffees here in the city of Golden Friendship.

K-Pop Mania: Crossing Islands for a U-Kiss concert

(This is a journey of a Kagay-anon who’d do everything including flying from Cagayan De Oro to Manila to watch U-Kiss.)

When word got out that a K-Pop boy group called U-Kiss would be holding their 1st U-Kiss Concert tour in the Philippines, I was ecstatic. Who wouldn’t? One of my favorite groups would be performing almost half of their songs in their album during the concert and I don’t want to miss that opportunity! Besides, its my first ever kpop concert so I promised myself I’d go to that concert no matter what it takes.

I really don’t want to make this really long and make it too-detailed. Almost two weeks have passed since the concert happened, so I don’t think I could remember everything, so do forgive me. I’ll just share some of the highlights during my U-Kiss concert escapade.

Vjandep Opens its largest store in Cagayan de Oro

Vjandep, one of the famous bakeshops here in the city of Cagayan de Oro, just recently opened their newest store along Bulua Highway. The new 3-storey building which was recently inaugurated, will house their pastel factory, pasalubong center and residence for transients and tourists in the city. Their main branch previously located along Tiano Bros. Street will be converted into a pasalubong outlet and the new building will serve as their main branch here in CDO.

Vjandep bakeshop is known for their home-made delicacy called the Pastel, a baked bun with filling that’s sweet and definitely mouth watering. Tourists from CDO and Camiguin are seldomly seen leaving without the famous Vjandep Pastel.

Current OSCE Chairmanship Expresses CIS Interests

Kazakhstan is the first Muslim country, as well as the first former SU satellite state, to hold the reins of the major intergovernmental security organization OSCE. According to Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev, the OSCE chairmanship holds a symbolic and historic significance for the organization. Kazakhstan’s outstanding foreign relations will make the country an ideal mediator for several international conflicts.

The new OSCE leadership also expresses the mutual interests of the CIS countries according to Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. The president recently held a meeting with the current OSCE chairman, Kanat Saudabayev. The Kazakh state secretary and foreign minister agrees with Nursultan Nazarbayev regarding his statement that Kazakhstan was given its position as OSCE chairman to represent the CIS nations. As a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Belarus announced its support for the priorities that were set by Kazakhstan.

Rumor had this since the past two or three years. But the rumor has not showed any sign of it becoming news until today when ExploreCDO discovered a JobStreet job opening.

Rustan Coffee Corporation, company handling Starbucks in this matter, posted a job opening for Store Managers for Tarlac, Cebu, Naga, and guess where else? No other than Cagayan De Oro.

Journey to the Golden Ticket Missy Bon Bon way

April 16, 2010, Friday, more than 100 Kagay-anons woke up very early to witness the opening of Missy Bon Bon Breadshop–the latest craze in town because of their mouth-watering gelato.

Located at Rosario Strip, Limketkai Center, Cagayan De Oro City, the breadshop attracted hundreds of people in its opening with their Golden Ticket marketing campaign– giving the first customer of the day a one year supply of goodies.

It was a hit as the first three customers even decided to camp out since last night. That’s what you call adventure! Less of words, more of photos, here’s the JOURNEY TO THE GOLDEN TICKET.

You’ve certainly tasted if not devoured the newest dessert craze in town–the Missy Bon Bon gelato.

If you’ve been enjoying just buying from their little stall at the 2nd floor of Big R, FUN is about to get bigger only hours from now.

At 7 am tomorrow, the first to buy gelato from their newest ice cream shop outside LimKetKai Mall fronting McDonald’s will be awarded with a Golden Ticket. It may not be a ticket to fame in Hollywood like American Idol’s but it’s definitely worth sleeping early tonight.

To get the Golden Ticket, the first customer for the day must have a minimum purchase of P200.

Dahilayan Adventure Park – Asia’s Longest Dual Zip Line

Local and foreign tourists who are staying in Cagayan de Oro for the summer are invited to experience the breathtaking and heart pumping zip line adventures at the Dahilayan Adventure Park.

The newly opened national park, which is 4,700 feet above sea level is located in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon, just 40 kilometers away from Cagayan de Oro city proper.

Dahilayan Adventure Park is famous for it’s longest dual zip zone consisting of dual carrying cables each 840 meters long from point to point, safety cable is also 840 meters long. Total length of cables is 2,460 meters. Elevation drop is 100 meters with estimated speed ranging from 60-100 KPH.
