Steag shuts down, Holy Week to have more brownouts?

Steag State Power Inc. will temporarily shut down its plant specifically on Maundy Thursday until Good Friday.

Jerome Soldevilla, Steag communications officer, said that the plant needs to have a time to be repaired particularly its generators. Granted that this would be necessary, Cagayan De Oro is expected to have more brownout schedules as the shutdown would also dictate that the whole of Mindanao grid may lose around 200 megawatts on those days.

Soldevilla justified that the shutdown would be best done during the Holy Week as establishments and companies here in Cagayan De Oro and the whole of the country would be closed.

The plant’s communications officer said that the operations would resume at the soonest possible time.
